Providers are reminded that a verified TFN is required when revising loans in TCSI. |
TFN verification requirements
Details first provided by the student while enrolled at your provider may have since changed in your system, or at the ATO. When student details become misaligned between TCSI and the ATO, loan processing will not proceed as expected. This is because TCSI must confirm the identity of a student to ensure that changes to loans are being processed against the correct account at the ATO.
Identifying students with an unverified TFN
Providers can access information on students with an unverified TFN that is preventing loans being reversed, remitted or updated at the ATO by accessing the Provider Critical Loan Transfer Errors (SV) dashboard, available from the dashboards tab in TCSI Analytics. Providers can access the Provider Notifications report in TCSI Analytics for a list of all unverified TFNs in TCSI.
Resolving TFN verification issues
Students are the owners of their personal information and are the authoritative source for their name details. To minimise delays, providers are encouraged to check in with their students to ensure their personal details, including TFN, have been reported correctly to the ATO and their provider.
The Tax File Number (TFN) Verification guide contains additional information for providers, as well as a TFN mismatch guide for students.
