Student Learning Entitlement Course Coverage Live Data Report

Overview

This report outlines course load coverage in relation to student enrolments, SLE student balances in relation to courses and student course information for that provider. This allows providers to target effort to students who may exceed their SLE before completing their courses.

How to read this report

The Course Coverage Live Data Report contains three levels:

  1. Summary Student SLE Coverage of Course Load – Number of students enrolled at a provider by groupings of SLE Coverage of Course Load.
  2. Student SLE Coverage of Course Load – SLE details of students enrolled at a provider with proximity to consuming their SLE amount included.
  3. Student Course Level Enrolment – Details of courses a student is enrolled in at provider. This information is accessible by clicking on a students’ details in the Student SLE Allocation Report and drilling down.

Layout of the report

The Summary Student SLE Coverage of Course Load table, provides the count of students within each of the following ranges of SLE Coverage of Course Load (defined in the table below):

>1 >0-1 0 0--1 <-1

Below this is the Student SLE Allocation Report:

Slicer on the left side of the report enables users to select students by:

  • Number of students within specific Bands of SLE Coverage of Course Load
  • E313 – Student Identification Code
  • E584 – Unique Student Identifier (USI)

The following table identifies the components that are used to construct the report:

Field Description Coding Notes
Student Identification Code A code which uniquely identifies the student within the Provider and remains constant from year to year. The value reported on E313 – Student Identification Code.
USI A reference number made of a combination of 10 numbers and letters assigned by the Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar (OSIR) which uniquely identifies an individual. The value reported on E584 – USI.
Available SLE  The amount of SLE available to consume, not including any current unit enrolments where SLE has not yet been consumed.

Available SLE =

Total SLE minus Consumed SLE

Pending SLE The EFTSL value of units currently enrolled in where SLE will be consumed when the census date passes

Pending SLE =

Any unit enrolled in by the student that will consume SLE, but the census date has not passed

Useable SLE The student’s Available SLE less Pending SLE.

Useable SLE =

Available SLE – Pending SLE

CSP Course Load

The total EFTSL value of all active courses a student is enrolled in that has at least one CSP unit linked to it.

The sum of E350 Course of Study Load amounts for all active courses with CSP units.
Successful SLE Units The EFTSL value of all CSP units the student has completed for the listed course. The sum of the EFTSL value of CSP Units a student has enrolled in with an E355 Unit of Study Status code of ‘3’ and the value on E560 – Course Credit for any relevant course admission for all active CSP courses.
Results Pending The EFTSL value of all CSP units undertaken by the student where the completion status is yet to be determined. The amount of SLE linked to units a student has enrolled in that has an E355 Unit of Study Status code of ‘4’.
Estimated Course Load Remaining Displays the estimated course load remaining for the student to complete all active CSP courses that they are enrolled in.

Estimated Course Load Remaining =

CSP Course Load – Successful SLE Units

SLE Coverage of Course Load The SLE amount a student will have after completed their enrolled CSP courses, assuming they fail no units and enrol in no further courses.

SLE Coverage of Course Load =

Useable SLE – Estimated Course Load Remaining

The above table can be drilled down on to retrieve student specific details, and the following table identifies the components that used to construct the report:

Field  Description Coding Notes
Student Identification Code A code which uniquely identifies the student within the Provider and remains constant from year to year. The value reported on E313 – Student Identification Code.
USI A reference number made of a combination of 10 numbers and letters assigned by the Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar (OSIR) which uniquely identifies an individual. The value reported on E584 – USI.
Useable SLE  The student’s Available SLE less Pending SLE.

Useable SLE =

Available SLE – Pending SLE

SLE Coverage of Course Load The SLE amount a student will have after completed their enrolled CSP courses, assuming they fail no units and enrol in no further courses.

SLE Coverage of Course Load =

Useable SLE – Estimated Course Load Remaining

E533 – Course of Study Code A code which uniquely identifies a course of study record. The value reported on E533 – Course of Study Code.
E394 – Course of Study Name The full name of a course of study. The value reported on E394 – Course of Study Name.
E307 – Course Code A code which uniquely identifies each course within a provider. The value reported on E307 – Course Code.
E308 – Course Name The full name of the course. The value reported on E308 – Course Name.
E310 – Course of Study Type A code which indicates the type of course. The value reported on E310 – Course of Study Type.
E350 – Course of Study Load The aggregated EFTSL value for a course of study, summed across all units of study which meet the academic requirements for the course of study. The value reported on E350 – Course of Study Load.
E599 – Course Outcome Code A code which categorises the outcome of a student’s course. The value reported on E599 – Course Outcome Code
Estimated Course Load Remaining Displays the estimated course load remaining for the student to complete the listed CSP course.

Estimated Course Load Remaining =

CSP Course Load – Successful SLE Units

Notes

  • The report only covers students who are currently enrolled at the provider. Any students who have previously finished their period of study at the provider will not be included in the report.
  • The unit for SLE calculations is EFTSL and is calculated to 3 decimal places.
  • For CSP Course Load, there are two criteria for the relevant E350 amount to be included in this equation:
    • Courses with an E592 Course Outcome Date reported or a future E592, and
    • That have a CSP unit of enrolment linked. A CSP unit is a unit with an E490 Student Status Code with a value ‘201, 202, 203, 204, 260 or 262’.
  • If E350 – Course of Study Load – Successful SLE returns a negative number, it will be treated as a 0 for Element Estimated Course Load Remaining
