Updates have been made to the 2026 reporting requirements following provider feedback. |
A new version of the 2026 TCSI change control document has been uploaded to the 2026 reporting requirements pages to clarify the following reporting requirement information.
Requirement for values to be reported in Australian dollars
The 5 November 2025 change control advised that amounts in an “international currency must be converted to Australian dollars at either the census or reference date (as applicable)” has been amended to remove guidance about when the conversion should be made. This change has been reflected in the additional information for the following elements:
Providers should continue to convert from an international currency to Australian dollars following their usual policy and procedure.
Element 599 Course Outcome Code
The 5 November 2025 change control instructed that a student completing a non-award course should be reported with a course outcome of “withdrawn”, however this clarification was only relevant to providers needing to report a course outcome code for non-award courses.
The collection intent remains to allow providers to leave E599: Course outcome code as NULL/blank, and this guidance applies to other course of study types. The additional information on the E599: Course outcome code has been updated to include the following guidance:
Course outcome code is not required for:
- Non-award
- Cross-institutional
- STARTUP-HELP
- Microcredentials
- Enabling courses.
Providers can choose to report a course outcome code against these course of study types, however the outcome will not be reflected in completion reports.
2026 Course Admission Packet
Updates to the 2026 course admission packet have also been included in the new version of the change control document to clarify reporting requirements for E599: Course outcome code and E592: Course outcome date.
A footnote has been included to clarify that the E599: Course outcome code is not required for non-award, cross-institutional, STARTUP-HELP, microcredentials, enabling courses.
Required reporting information for E592: Course outcome date has been updated from “Required if a course of study (including an enabling course) or a bridging course for overseas-trained professionals is completed” to “Required if a course of study is completed”.
FEE-FREE Uni Ready clarification
A few providers have asked which E310: Course of study type are eligible to have unit enrolments reported with the newly updated E490: Student status code of “261”. The 5 November 2025 change control changed the description of the allowable value, but did not change the meaning of an enabling course.
As FEE-FREE Uni Ready is a type of enabling course, providers are required to report unit enrolments with a E490: Student status code of “261” against a course of study with a E310: Course of study type of “30” (enabling course). RTV10423 contains further information regarding this reporting requirement.
Unit enrolments for international and fee paying students who are not eligible for FEE-FREE Uni Ready can still be reported against a course of study with a E310: Course of study type of “30” (enabling course) and a E490: Student status code matching their circumstances.
