TCSI webinars will recommence in February 2024.

The TCSI Support team will resume optional fortnightly drop-in sessions from 7 February 2024 with the first TCSI Monthly webinar to be held on 21 February 2024.

All scheduled 2024 monthly TCSI webinars are now available for registration on the TCSI News Centre webpage. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to get up-to-date information and to ask any questions you might have about TCSI.

The TCSI test environment will be refreshed in 2024!

The TCSI test environment will undergo a refresh in 2024 which will remove all reported data including curriculum, student, staff, and applications and offers collections. This will help reduce the strain on the test environment, improve performance, remove unwanted data, and allow providers to perform testing without interference from previously reported data.

Providers and vendors will be advised of the refresh date once finalised. Providers and vendors will be given five working days’ notice to ensure any testing can be completed. If you require an extract of your test data, please complete a data extract request. 

Where possible, configurations for existing mock provider accounts will be retained after the refresh, including provider types, provider effective dates, and VET Student Loan approved course lists.

All data on the FTP will be wiped soon.

Please be advised that, between 22nd December 2023 and 19th January 2024, TCSI will be removing all data from the FTP. Please download all required data from your folder by 20th December 2023 before it is wiped.

TCSI would also like to remind providers that the FTP is not for storage of data, but to transfer data between TCSI and our providers in an accessible and secure manner. TCSI will also send an email to providers who have requested a data extract in the last six weeks providing the above information and asking that they check their subscription preferences in case they did not receive this newsletter.

The 2024 VSL Data Reporting Requirements Notice has been released under Subsection 53(1) of the VET Student Loans Act 2016.

There have been minor updates to the reporting requirements for VET Student Loan providers for 2024. The most significant change was to the Citizen resident code (E358) specification to clarify New Zealand citizenship reporting and to add the Pacific Engagement Visa code ‘P’.

The 2024 Ministerial Notice was released on 7 November 2023 outlining updated data submission requirements and providing additional clarity to support higher education providers.

All changes to the requirements for the Higher Education Data Collection were noted in the 2024 Higher Education Data Requirements and Change Control document for the:

• Higher Education Student data collection
• University Staff data collection
• University Applications and Offers collection

TCSI Support encourages providers to review the 2024 reporting requirements applicable to their organisation prior to the beginning of the new year and before reporting the first data of 2024 to reduce triggering unexpected TCSI errors and ensure data quality. 

The 2024 Ministerial Notice has been released outlining updated data submission requirements for 2024 Collections for HESA-approved higher education providers.

The department has approved the following deadlines for specific annual data submissions and verification:

Student verification for 2023 will open in TCSI Analytics in mid-January 2024. The extended verification period allows data to be checked sooner so that signoff can be achieved before the deadline. Targeted webinars will be provided from February 2024 and throughout the verification period. Please refer to News Centre page for latest webinar information.

Enhancements are being made to the Student Learning Entitlement Management System (SLEMS).

To help facilitate ongoing management of the Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) the Department is working on enhancements to the Student Learning Entitlement Management System (SLEMS). 

These enhancements include:

• additional reports in TCSI Analytics, which will allow providers to view SLE information for students who are enrolled with them,
• further RTV’s to notify providers of student SLE amounts.

Additionally, the Department is considering the treatment for vertical double degrees (double degrees that have undergraduate and postgraduate components) that are reported as a single course of study in TCSI as it relates to the SLEMS. In particular where providers do not report a vertical double degree as two separate Courses of Study in TCSI (i.e. a Bachelor of Science/Master of Teaching reported as one Course of Study).

Changes have been made to RTVs and reporting options for Maximum Student Contribution Code - E392.

The following changes to the Maximum Student Contribution Code (E392) went live on the 27th of October:

• end dating the reporting of code ‘0’ (contribution exempt student) for units with census dates on or after 1 January 2024.
• Addition of new RTVs: 
  • RTV 10901 - This will enforce the null reporting of E392 for all non-CSP units on or after 1 January 2024.
  • RTV 10902 - This will enforce the reporting of E392 codes ‘7’, ‘8’ or ‘9’ for all CSP units with a census date on or after 1 January 2024. 

In addition, the following existing RTVs will be end dated to only apply to units reported with a census date before 1 January 2024:

• RTV 10451
• RTV 10452
• RTV 10453

The scheduled validation SV00005, which ensures that E392 is reported for CSP units has been replaced by the new RTVs and will only apply for units with a census date before 1 January 2024.
