The TCSI Newsletter helps to keep our Higher Education and VET Student Loans (VSL) providers up to date with the TCSI news.

For VSL and Higher Education Providers

Digital ID is now required for myHELPbalance

Students now require a Digital ID to access myHELPbalance.

The myHELPbalance website allows students to view their available borrowing balance under the combined Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan limit.

From 29 April 2026 students must use a Digital ID to access the myHELPbalance website. The Digital ID used is myID, which is also used to access more than 150 Australian Government services, including the myGov website. This change has been introduced to better protect students’ personal information by preventing unauthorised access to student records. Once a student has linked their myID with their student record, access to myHELPbalance will be faster and more secure.

Setting up a standard strength myID is quick and easy. Students who don’t already have a myID, can follow step-by-step instructions on how to set up myID.

There is no change to how providers access the myHELPbalance website through their PRODA account. Providers are encouraged to review the Accessing TCSI services (PRODA) webpage for information on assigning and maintaining the TCSI attribute required to access the myHELPbalance portal.

To support providers in promoting this change, the department issued a stakeholder communication pack on 17 April 2026 to TCSI primary and secondary contacts, and eCAF primary contacts. The pack includes website and newsletter content, social media tiles and a poster.

New contacts are now available on the TCSI Contact Us page.

The TCSI Support Team has reviewed and updated the list of contacts available on the Contact Us page. Providers are encouraged to review the updated contact list to ensure enquiries are directed to the most appropriate team to support more timely responses.

For Higher Education Providers only

Reminder: 2026 University Applications and Offers collection due 28 May 2026

The final University Applications and Offers collection is due 28 May 2026 with a reference date of 14 May 2026.

Please note, HESA-approved non-university providers (NUHEP) are not required to report the 2026 University Applications and Offers Collection.

Table A and Table B Universities

The 2026 University Applications and Offers Collection is required to be reported by Table A and Table B providers under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA).

Tertiary Admission Centres (TACs)

This is the second and final submission for TACs in 2026 following the preliminary 2026 University Applications and Offers Collection that was due 12 February 2026.

TCSI Data Entry Portal Users

TACs can make updates to the same files that were submitted during the Preliminary collection in February to reflect any changes or any new data required to be reported. The file upload in TCSI Data Entry is designed to detect differences between the TCSI database and your file and only process what has changed and what is new. Please avoid using preference ordinal position ‘00’ as these will not be treated correctly in the file.

API Solution Users

If TACs have an API solution, your system will need to identify what has changed between February and May to send the appropriate POST, PATCH, and DELETE API calls. You may like to speak to your vendor about what your system can accommodate.

The recording for the TCSI November 2024 Provider Webinar is a recommend resource for TACs to refresh their knowledge and learn useful tips for submitting your applications and offers data.

2026 Staff data submission and verification

Track the key dates and actions required over the coming weeks.

A Request for Information (RFI) relating to the 2026 Staff data submission and verification will be emailed to providers next week, from 4 May 2026.

The RFI is used to confirm a providers’ understanding of their submission and verification plans and to confirm their primary and secondary TCSI contacts for this collection.

The expected activation date of the 2026 Staff data verification in TCSI Analytics is 14 May 2026. An announcement email confirming the activation of the 2026 Staff data collection will be sent to providers on the activation day.

Providers are reminded that they can start submitting and checking their staff data in TCSI before the collection is activated.

A targeted 2026 Staff data submission and verification webinar will be held on 20 May 2026. This webinar will walk-through how to submit data into TCSI, the verification process and provide other relevant information about the collection. 2026 Staff data is due to be submitted and verified on or before 26 June 2026.

Update to real time validation (RTV) 10435

RTV10435 will be updated from a fatal to a warning validation.

Validation error 10435 will be updated from a 'Fatal' to a 'Warning' validation as it was preventing providers from reporting real-world scenarios for eligible students completing Work Experience in Industry (WEI) units for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP). Some examples of these real-world scenarios are:

Students that are part of a cross-institutional arrangement between two providers, and the WEI unit is the first or only unit to be reported against the course admission at the host provider.
Students that have transferred to a new version of the course and the first or only unit of study to be reported against the new course admission is a WEI unit.
Students that return to study at the provider and are reported in a new course admission, where the first unit of study in the new course is a WEI unit.
Students that have transferred to a different course under the same course of study which does not contain non-WEI units.
Students that return to study at the provider after previous unsatisfactory academic progress and is readmitted in a new course admission, where the first unit of study is a WEI unit.

Providers should be aware that if you report data that triggers a warning validation, it means that the data has been stored in TCSI. However, warning validations are designed to inform providers that the data may require further quality checks to ensure the data has been reported as intended.

TCSI Analytics portal: support videos available

Explore the new support videos now available in TCSI Analytics.

Following the release of new support videos on 27 March 2026, shared via the TCSI March 2026 Newsletter, providers are reminded that these resources are available within the TCSI Analytics portal to support effective use of the Critical Student Loan Error and Higher Education Student Enrolment Trends dashboards.

The videos outline key features and demonstrate how dashboard insights can be used to strengthen student loan reporting and improve data quality. Providers are encouraged to use these resources to support ongoing monitoring, validation, and resolution of critical reporting issues.
