VET Student Load Liability (VLL) and Revised Student Load Liability (VRL) (2012-)

VET Providers approved under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA) are required to report data for students in approved, accredited vocational educational and training (VET) courses.

The VET Student Load/Liability (VLL) File contains the records of student load and student liability for all units of study undertaken by students enrolled with an approved VET Provider in an approved VET FEE-HELP course.

TIMING

The VLL File is one of the files incorporated in the VET Student Submission. The others are the VET Student Enrolment (VEN) File and the VET Commonwealth Assisted Students - HELP Due (VDU) File. For more information about these files please refer to their respective scope and structure documents.

All documents related to data requirements, including the timing for the provision of the VET Student Submission, as set out in the Timing Matrix (PDF), are available for download from the HEIMSHELP website

STRUCTURE

Information about the structure and the elements included in the VLL file can be found in the VET Student Load Liability Structure document which is available on the HEIMSHELP website.

Each record in the VLL File must have a unique combination of values for:

  • Student identification code (E313)
  • Course code (E307)
  • Unit of study code (E354)
  • Unit of study census date (E489)

RECORDS TO BE INCLUDED

The VLL File is to contain details on any unit of study undertaken by a student who was enrolled with an approved VET Provider. All eligible students must be included in this file, irrespective of whether or not they choose to access VET FEE-HELP assistance.
