Pre‑HESA: Element 350 was included in the original Higher Education student data collection in 1989 as "Standard course completion time - full‑time". It was modified in 1994 to "Course load" (the aggregated EFTSL value for a course, summed across all units of study which meet the academic requirements for the course).
It continued as part of the student data collection under the new policy and program initiatives introduced under the Opens in a new window: Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA) which was implemented in 2005. It was modified at this time to the current "Course of study load" and has not had any significant change to codes or meaning since then.
